The Academy is now happy to announce a new era in the IAC exams. Currently, we are in a transition phase, but it is hoped that by summer 2024 all examinations will be taken on-line. It will still be necessary to attend an examination site but everyone will be asked to bring their own laptop to view the questions and enter the answers on-line. Want to have a look? The IAC Comprehensive Cytotechnology Registry Examination
Since 1971 the International Academy of Cytology has developed, adapted and administered examinations for cytotechnologists around the world. As of January 2024, more than 13,000 cytotechnologists have successfully passed the IAC Comprehensive Cytotechnology Examination obtaining the title CT(IAC). Cytotechnologists from over 65 countries have taken the examination.
During a limited time period (1993 – 2002) an examination restricted to gynecologic cytology only was administered (CT(IAC-GYN)) which is no longer available.
