Aims of the Committee
Examining possible invitations for holding future congresses in a given country and city, to solicit invitations by national societies and to submit the non-binding recommendations to the IAC Board of Directors and to coordinate the preparation of future congresses with the corresponding national society.
Specific Topics
- To implement the decisions of the strategy meeting, namely: IAC has more control of the scientific program, agreement with local society, more content for cytotechnologists, implement companion meeting day, charitable donation of a % of profit, and promote Hybrid format.
- To collaborate strictly with the educational committee

Andrew Field, MB BS (Hons), FRCPA, FIAC
Dr. Field is head of the Department of Anatomical Pathology at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, and Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales and Notre Dame University Medical Schools. He is currently the President of the International Academy of Cytology and a foundation member of African Strategies for Advancing Pathology, an organization that aims to advocate for and coordinate improvements in pathology services throughout Africa.

Dr. Chandra Is The Lead Consultant For Cytopathology And Uropathology At Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHSFT, London, UK. He Is Currently A Vice-President Of The IAC, Chairman, British Association Of Urological Pathology And Deputy Editor, Cytopathology. His Most Recent Contributions To The Field Of Cytopathology Include The International System For Reporting Serous Fluid Cytopathology And The WHO/IARC Lung Cytopathology Terminology.
Donna russel
Donna Russell received her Master’s in Education from the University of Rochester Graduate School of Education and currently is the Education Coordinator of the Cytopathology Resident/Fellowship training program at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. She has been an employee at UR Medicine for over 30 years. She is also the program director of the Master’s level Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center/Daemen College School of Cytotechnology and is currently teaching her seventh class.
Martha Bishop Pitman, MD, MIAC
Dr. Pitman is an internationally recognized expert in the field of cytopathology and fine needle aspiration cytopathology in general, and pancreaticobiliary cytopathology in particular. She is a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and practicing pathologist in cytopathology and gastrointestinal surgical pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she obtained her residency and fellowship training. She is past president of the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology and past President of the American Society of Cytopathology.
