Dr. Saieg completed his medical studies in 2001 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, followed by residency in Pathology (2006) and PhD in Pathology at the University of Sao Paulo (2009). In 2010 he started a fellowship in Molecular Pathology and Cytopathology at the University of Toronto and in 2012 went back to Brazil to work as a cytopathologist and Associate Professor at the Santa Casa Medical School, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since then, he has served as President of the Brazilian Society of Cytopathology, as Scientific Director of the Latin American Society of Cytopathology and as member of several editorial boards, such as Cancer Cytopathology, Diagnostic Cytopathology and the Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology. He also serves currently as Associate Editor of Cytopathology, the British Association for Cytopathology Journal. Dr. Saieg has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in Pubmed-indexed journals and participated as a speaker in several international conferences in the field. Since August 2024, Dr. Saieg holds a position as Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, Jewish General Hospital, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada.
