Diagnostic Cytopathology has rapidly grown into an important clinically oriented field, playing a pivotal role in timely and accurate patient management for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases.
Cytopathology is a dynamic discipline, with continuously evolving newer techniques for sample preparation, ancillary tests, reporting terminology and nomenclature. Recent years have witnessed an exponential growth of such techniques including liquid-based specimen preparation, automation, immune-markers and various molecular tests, which have being applied to supplement morphologic evaluation of cytologic specimens. Additionally, there have been several significant revisions of tumor nomenclature and classifications in histopathology which directly affect the way the diagnoses of such tumors are rendered in cytopathology. There are new therapeutic approaches for oncologic patients with important implications on cytologic interpretation while the exact role of HPV testing in clinical management and screening is often poorly understood, and urinary tract cytologic reporting has been recently updated.

The IAC and Chinese Cytology Association warmly welcome you to the 3000 year old capital city of Beijing, vibrant with amazing attractions and a wealth of ancient and recent history to explore.
