Head and neck pathology is a subspecialized and highly challenging field where diagnostic pitfalls are common. This course will address this problem byfocusing on diagnostic issues such as the interpretation of small biopsy specimens and how to avoid diagnostic errors. The course is designed to provide acomprehensive review of head and neck surgical pathology including the upper respiratory tract, sinonasal cavities, thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland,skin, inflammatory disease, soft tissue, and oral cavity lesions. An emphasis will be placed on important practical issues for the general as well as subspe-cialized surgical pathologist. In addition, the course will also review the use of ancillary studies and fine needle aspiration (FNA), as well as recentadvances and new entities in the field. While the course will be primarily in lecture format, it will include frequent discussion periods, and each participantwill receive a comprehensive course syllabus.The course will feature Dr. Bruce Wenig as the BZ Pilch Honorary Lecturer who will be giving two lectures: Neuroendocrine tumors of the head andneck, and Selected pathology of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.The Harvard Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physi-cians.The Harvard Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 22.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
