Compendium on the COMPUTERIZED CYTOLOGY and HISTOLOGY LABORATORY 1994 GEORGE L. WIED, PETER H. BARTELS, DOROTHY L. ROSENTHAL, and ULRICH SCHENCK Editors This  multi-authored  Compendium  on  the  Computerized  Cytology  and  Histology  Laboratory was originally compiled as a teaching  aid  for  the  registrants  of  the   Third  International  Conference  on  the  Computerized  Cytology  and  Histology Laboratory  under  the  auspices  of  the   International  Academy  of  Cytology  and  the  American  Society  of  Cytology.    The current status and the future developments in laboratory automation and computerization are described by internationally renowned experts.  The state-of-the-art analytical and quantitative systems for histometry, cytometry, DNA-measurements in diagnosis and prognosis, quantitation of AgNORs, molecular pathology,  in situ hybridization and oncogenes are described.   New developments in optical technologies and telepathology are presented. The second section of the Compendium  is devoted to current industrial developments in the fields of automated cytology, quantitativ e morphology and specimen preparation techniques. The Compendium may serve as a guide to anatomic pathologists and cytopathologists with this presentation of the state- of-the-art techniques and will provide insight into the systems to come in the near future.
