CONFERENCE DETAILS

At this time (status of August 1999), there are preregistration and submission of recommendations for topics from delegates from the following countries: Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Rep., Egypt, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong/China, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan Republic, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao/China, Malaysia, Mexico, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Republic of South Africa, Republic of Russia, Republic of South Korea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenija, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan/China, Thailand, Turkey, USA, United Arab Emirates, UK, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, West Indies and Zambia.

The UICC will organize a special seminar at the Conference related to their Pilot Project in Latin America on Cervical Cancer Screening and Early Detection.

Registration:

For the Conference:
Registration will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2000 (time to be announced). The registration fee is $400, if paid before October 31, 1999, and $500 after October 31, 1999 in US currency drawn on an American bank and made payable to the INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF CYTOLOGY or by credit card (see Registration Form). An additional reduction of $50 for IAC Members or Registrants of the preceding 45th Tutorial on Clinical Cytology. Refunds will be made until February 1, 2000. All refunds are subject to a $90 service charge.

For the Hotel:
Please send the Room Reservation form directly to the Drake Hotel-Chicago using the form provided. This form will identify you as a Conference participant and will entitle you to the reduced Conference rate. Please note that a block of rooms has been reserved for the dates of the Conference and will be released to the public February 10, 2000. Rooms are in short supply and will be committed as reservations are received. We suggest that you confirm your housing by using a credit card or a cash deposit for the first night's lodging. The conference organizers will not make hotel room reservations for any participant.

Submission of Abstracts:

All presentations require an abstract, submitted in English, to the Conference Office in Chicago (see Instructions for Preparation of Abstracts).

Deadline for submission is December 1, 1999. In order for an abstract to be considered, the conference registration of the first author must be submitted. If your funding source will delay the actual payment of the registration fee, a purchase order or other indication of forthcoming funds should accompany the abstract.

Authors will be notified by the end of January 2000 about the decision of the Program Committee concerning the presentation of the submitted abstract(s).

Publication of Conference Proceedings:

The proceedings will be published in Acta Cytologica (if pertaining to diagnostic cytology), in Analytical and Quantitative Cytology and Histology (if pertaining to new and experimental technologies) and in The Journal of Reproductive Medicine (if pertaining to patient management). The deadline for papers is May 15, 2000. Cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, anatomic pathologists, gynecologists, oncologists, public health experts, epidemiologists, communication experts, cost-effectiveness specialists, representatives of reimbursing agencies and other interested parties are cordially invited to attend and participate in this conference.

Conflict of Interest Policy:

If a Consensus Conference participant is affiliated with or has financial interest in any organization that may have a direct interest in the subject of the presentation by this particular conference participant, a conflict of interest may be considered to exist. The International Academy of Cytology wishes to emphasize that such an affiliation or interest does not disqualify a speaker, moderator, panel member, task force member, seminar member, session chairman, or poster author from making a presentation or actively participating as discussant, but the prospective audience must be made aware of the relationship in printed or verbal form in advance or during the presentation.
